Sacramento has traded Trevor Ariza, Kenyan Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan to Portland in return for the veteran guard

After a lackluster start to a year that started with so much promise, the Sacramento Kings have started their face-lift as the season passes the mid-point.

Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that the Kings have acquired Kent Bazemore from the Portland Trail Blazers. The 30-year old guard is in the last season of a four-year, $70 million contract that will expire at the end of this season. While playing in Portland this season, Bazemore averaged 7.9 points and 4.0 rebounds per game on 34-percent from the field and 32-percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Over 526 career appearances, Bazemore holds averages of 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.0 steal per game while shooting just under 35-percent from three-point range.

Sacramento has also re-acquired forward Anthony Tolliver, who played with the Kings during the 2016-17 season. Tolliver will stretch the floor for the offense, who need front-court depth with Richaun Holmes shelved with a shoulder injury and the future of Dewayne Dedmon uncertain.

In return for Bazemore, Sacramento has dealt Trevor Ariza, Caleb Swanigan and Wenyen Gabriel to Portland. Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Kings have also acquired two future second-round picks in the deal as well.

Ariza, 34, produced 6.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game for the Kings in 32 appearances.

Sacramento will have a short bench tonight in Utah, but could use a boost from Bogdan Bogdanovic who is set to return after an eight-game hiatus due to an ankle injury.

Bazemore and Tolliver’s status for Monday at Miami will be updated after physicals have been conducted by the respective team physicians.
