Sacramento has lost four of its last five contests
The Sacramento Kings felt the absences of their lost players on Wednesday night in Portland.
Without the services of De’Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III and Bogdan Bogdanovic, the Kings fell to C.J. McCollum and the Portland Trail Blazers by a final of 127-116 at MODA Center in Portland.
While Sacramento kept it close for most of the game, Portland would go on to create space in the fourth quarter thanks to their sharpshooting guards. McCollum would finish with 33 points, while Damian Lillard finished with 24 points for the Blazers.
If one thing was certain on Wednesday night, it was that Richaun Holmes did all that he could for this shorthanded Kings team.
The fan-favorite finished with a career-high 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting and 10 rebounds in the losing effort. Buddy Hield had 23 points and seven assists, while Nemanja Bjelica pitched in with 17 points and seven rebounds.
After a strong stretch of play that saw Sacramento win seven of 10 contests, the Kings have lost four of five games. They will look to turn it around on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs on the road to begin their yearly Texas “Rodeo Trip” in San Antonio, Dallas and Houston.
