Report: Kings Request Permission To Speak To Five GM Candidates

According to a report from The Athletic, Sacramento has escalated its search for a new general manager

The search is on.

Per Sam Amick and Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Sacramento Kings have reached out to several organizations within the league to request permission to interview possible candidates for their open general manager position.

According to the report, Sacramento will begin interviews next week with the following executives:

The Kings have requested permission to interview the following candidates, sources have told The Athletic: Timberwolves executive vice president Sachin Gupta, Heat assistant general manager Adam Simon, Nuggets GM Calvin Booth, Pelicans GM Trajan Langdon, Rockets assistant GM Monte McNair and former Hawks GM Wes Wilcox.

Interviews are expected to begin next week, per the report from Amick and Charania.

Langdon, who is the current general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans, reportedly informed the Kings on Wednesday that he would not be involved in the process:

The search for a new general manager will be spearheaded by Joe Dumars, who is acting as the interim general manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations.

Sacramento will need to find a replacement for the recently departed Vlade Divac, who stepped down from his position last month after five tumultuous seasons.
