Per the team, Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown has entered the NBA’s Health & Safety protocols and will be out for tonight’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
Associate head coach Jordi Fernández will act as head coach in Brown’s absence–on his 40th birthday and against his former team, nonetheless. Fernández was on Nuggets head coach Michael Malone’s staff from 2016-22.
Brown can return to his coaching duties once he has received clearance to exit the league’s protocols.
The absence of Mike Brown will likely coincide with center Domantas Sabonis (avulsion fracture of the ulnar collateral ligament of the right thumb) as the big man was not seen at today’s pre-game shootaround session at Golden 1 Center’s practice gym.
Sacramento (17-14) is beginning a back-to-back set of games against two-time MVP Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on Tuesday night but will do so shorthanded without their head coach and All-Star center in Sabonis.
