After six seasons as quarterback of the Washington Redskins, Kirk Cousins is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings, worth a completely guaranteed $84 million. Once he signs the dotted line, Cousins will be the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL.

While it would be a complete and utter shock for Cousins to not accept the deal, his agent, Mike McCartney, is playing it cautiously, “No final decisions have been made. The plan is to visit Minnesota first. That’s all we can say right now”.

Cousins enjoyed another successful year statistically for the Redskins in 2017, finishing with 4,093 yards (the third straight year over 4,000), 27 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, a 64.3 completion percentage, and a QB rating of 93.9.

After being franchise tagged multiple times by Washington, a multi-year, fully guaranteed deal is a welcome sight. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin took to twitter, calling Cousins a “hero” to other young players for getting a fully-guaranteed contract.

The Minnesota Vikings were eliminated in the NFC Championship game by the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles, 38-7. Then-Vikings quarterback Case Keenum is expected to sign with the Denver Broncos.
