The Las Vegas Raiders scored their most points of the season Sunday as the post-Josh McDaniels era kicked off with a win, defeating the New York Giants 30-6.
After a tumultuous week that saw the Silver & Black relieve McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler, interim coach Antonio Pierce led the Raiders to their largest margin of victory in nearly three years. Rookie Aidan O’Connell kicked off the game with a 67-yard drive, capped off by a 17-yard sweep by Jakobi Meyers.
Heading into Week 9, running back Josh Jacobs recorded only three touchdowns. He nearly tied that Sunday, with two scores and rushing for 98 yards, his most in a game this season.
The defense stepped up again, as well. The Las Vegas Raiders totaled eight sacks for the day, three of which came from defensive end Maxx Crosby. Amik Robertson and Nate Hobbs also stepped up big, recording two receptions in the first half, which resulted in 10 points. By the end of the second quarter, the Raiders led the Giants 24-0. According to ESPN, that tied “their sixth-largest advantage when not allowing a point.”
New York’s six points came in the final quarter on two field goals, narrowly avoiding the shut out.
ONE Half, TWO Picks, THREE Touchdowns.
