The Las Vegas Raiders have an opportunity to open a season with two consecutive road wins for the first time since 1982 on Sunday, when they travel to play the Buffalo Bills.
As the only AFC West team with a win, the Raiders enter Week 2 following a 17-16 victory at division rival Denver. The Bills are smarting in coming off a 22-16 overtime loss at the New York Jets in a game where quarterback Josh Allen committed four turnovers. Buffalo has opened a season with two losses just once, in 2018, entering their seventh season under coach Sean McDermott.
The Bills have won two straight, but are 4-6 in their past 10 meetings going back to 1999.
Las Vegas Raiders players to watch
Hunter Renfrow was surprisingly not targeted at all in the opener at Denver, but with Jakobi Meyers in concussion protocol this week, that could open opportunities. Here’s a receiver who had more than 1,000 yards just two years ago, but has been an odd fit in coach Josh McDaniels’ system, which has led to trade speculation. This could be Renfrow’s chance to show he should be a bigger part of the offense or perhaps could even interest one of the other 31 teams.
“He has a good feel for the offense, for the space that we’re trying to get it into,” Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo said of Hunter Renfrow. “He knows what the whole field is doing, what we’re trying to get on each play, and he has a feel for it. So, when you have a guy like that, it’s almost like having a quarterback playing receiver.”
