Monday Night Football started off strong for the Las Vegas Raiders, but a second-half collapse resulted in a one-point loss to their division rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Raiders put up 17 points through the first half, but Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce slowly chipped away at that lead. The Chiefs’ tight end set a new franchise record as he hauled in four touchdowns on the night. The final TD put the Chiefs up by 7. The Chiefs tried to go for two, but failed to convert, giving the Raiders a chance to tie.
The Raiders marched down the field and responded when Devante Adams pulled in his second touchdown for the game. But instead of going for the tie, coach Josh McDaniels and the team opted to go for the lead. However, Raiders running back Josh Jacobs could not convert.
Quarterback Derek Carr and the offense would have one more shot, but on the last play for the Black and Silver, a returning Hunter Renfrow and Adams collided, leading to the heartbreaking loss.
One of the bright spots of the game was Jacobs besting last week’s career game, setting a new high of 154 yards.
