Tyree Wilson poses with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after being selected seventh overall by the Las Vegas Raiders during the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft at Union Station on April 27, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.
As the Las Vegas Raiders enter their third week of training camp, rookie safety Tyree Wilson has still not yet been seen.
In late July, Wilson, the seventh overall pick in this year’s draft, was added to the Raiders non-football injury list. Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, said at the time the move was expected because of Wilson’s injury while at Texas Tech last year.
In his final year as a Red Raider, Wilson injured his foot in November and had season-ending surgery shortly after.
On Sunday, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels provided an update on his rookie, saying there’s no concern about Wilson missing the full season. When asked if he’ll be ready by the start of the season, McDaniels said he hopes so.
“As soon as he’s ready, he’s going to be out there. And I think like I said, there’s been nothing that has told us that that’s not going to happen,” McDaniels said.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer provided a little more context in his latest column, saying he expects Tyree Wilson to make his training camp debut, “at some point over the next two weeks… You can sense the excitement here over what Wilson will be able to bring to the table when he gets healthy.”
