An NFL Christmas Day game reached just under 30 million viewers, but it wasn’t the primetime matchup between the 49ers and Ravens. According to CBS, the Las Vegas Raiders win over the Kansas City Chiefs averaged 29.171 million viewers, the most since 1989.
The evening game between San Francisco and Baltimore averaged 27.2 million viewers. The Chiefs and Raiders peaked at 37.163 million viewers and became the most-watched Christmas Day program ever for CBS.
In the matchup, the Raiders defense was able to dominate Patrick Mahomes, scoring two touchdowns in seven seconds off the Chiefs offense.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Hans Schroeder, the NFL’s executive vice president of media distribution, says the league won’t schedule games on Tuesday or Wednesday. Christmas in 2024 lands on a Wednesday.
