The Sacramento Kings are expected to exercise forward Trey Lyles’ $2.6 million team option for the 2022-23 season, per James Ham of The Kings Beat.
Lyles, 26, averaged 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 49 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc over 24 games (20 starts) with the Kings during the 2021-22 season.
After being acquired in a three-way trade deadline deal with the Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks, Lyles was slotted into the starting power forward position for a hefty portion of Sacramento’s final stretch of games.
Over his final 20 appearances of the season, Lyles made a strong case for King general manager Monte McNair to consider bringing the seven-year veteran back for another season:
12.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 48% FG, 35% 3PT, 87% FT, 25.8 MIN
