The former standout guard joined the show Tuesday evening while playing a round of golf with his family to catch up with Grant and Doug, share stories and reflect on his time as Sacramento Kings.
Bibby, who had won state a championship as a High School basketball coach, shared his aspirations of being a head coach down the line at a higher level.
“Just waiting for someone to give me a chance,” he said. “I love doing it. I love teaching kid, guys, you know, the stuff that I have learned throughout the coaches that I had and just try to give them some knowledge and help anyway that I can.”
After being drafted second-overall in the 1998 NBA Draft, Bibby was traded from Vancouver to Sacramento before the 2001-02 season. On how he felt coming to the Kings, Bibby shared his thoughts.
“I was excited. Elated. You know, just being with a group of guys that already set the tone, being “the best show on court” and all of that stuff, I just wanted to be a part of it. It was the best situation that anybody could have asked for. I didn’t know what it was going to be like, you know, you guys traded me for Jason Williams, I just wanted to come in and fit in.
Everybody made me feel like I had been playing there my whole career. It was easy to be there and just be comfortable.”
