As the Sacramento Kings get set to begin a final push for the Western Conference Play-In, they will hope to have guards Davion Mitchell and Jeremy Lamb available on Thursday night.
Mitchell and Lamb are both looking to be available for head coach Alvin Gentry when the Kings take the floor against the Denver Nuggets at Golden 1 Center.
After missing Sacramento’s final game prior to the All-Star break in Chicago due to right hand soreness, Mitchell was seen getting shots up following Wednesday’s practice after the rookie guard participated his second practice in as many days.
Mitchell was also unable to play in last Friday night’s NBA Rising Stars game, although he was in attendance for the rookie-sophomore showcase that took place in Cleveland.
“I think Davion will play,” Gentry said of Mitchell’s status for Thursday. “Jeremy (Lamb) had a really good practice today and went through everything that we did, so I got to think that he will be available too.”
Over his last 10 games, Mitchell is averaging 16.1 points and 4.6 assists per game on 45-percent shooting from the field and 39-percent from beyond the three-point line.
Lamb, who was acquired during the February 8th deal that brought Domantas Sabonis to Sacramento, has missed the past three games due to ankle soreness. In his only appearance as a King, the veteran guard scored 14 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out five assists in a 132-119 win over Minnesota back on February 9th.
Sacramento will begin its final 22-game stretch on Thursday at 7:00 pm PST when they face reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.
