Mason Miller logs top-five finish in Rookie of the Year voting

A’s closer Mason Miller made a name for himself in 2024, and the hard-throwing right-hander logged a top-five finish in this year’s voting for the American League Rookie of the Year award.
Miller finished fourth in this year’s voting, receiving one first-place ballot and two second-place votes following a strong All-Star and All-MLB Second-Team rookie season.
New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil (15-7, 3.50 ERA, 171 K) narrowly beat out Baltimore Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser (.242 AVG, 24 HR, 69 RBI) for the award, while Yankees backstop Austin Wells (13 HR, 55 RBI) finished one vote ahead of Miller for the third-place finish.
Pittsburgh Pirates star rookie pitcher Paul Skenes (11-3, 1.96 ERA, 170 K) took home the Rookie of the Year award in the National League.

Athletics closer Mason Miller put the finishing touches on a rookie season for the books as the hard-throwing right-hander was named to the All-MLB Second Team on Thursday.
Miller, 26, burst onto the scene this season as the All-Star struck out 104 batters over 65 innings of work and posted an ERA of 2.49 in 55 appearances.
The A’s former third-round pick locked down 28 saves in 31 opportunities this season (fifth in the American League) and posted an incredible 14.4 strikeouts per nine innings ratio.
Miller is the first Athletics player to be named to an All-MLB team since the award was created during the 2019 season.
