A’s trade OF Daz Cameron to Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles acquired outfielder Daz Cameron from the Oakland Athletics on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.

Cameron, 27, played the 2024 campaign with Oakland after three years (2020-22) with the Detroit Tigers. Cameron was in the Orioles’ organization in 2023, spending the whole season with Triple-A Norfolk.

In 66 games with the A’s, Cameron batted .200 with career highs in home runs (five) and RBIs (15). Across 139 career MLB games for Detroit and Oakland, Cameron is a .201 hitter with 10 homers and 39 RBIs.

He split 2024 between left, right and center field, but Cameron has started more MLB games (57) in right field than anywhere else.

While with Norfolk in 2023, Cameron batted .268 with 16 homers, 67 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 110 games. He made 62 starts in center field.

On the heels of a scorching summer in the Sacramento Valley, the Oakland Athletics and Major League Baseball believe they have found a way to avoid the heat in 2025.

The A’s have released the first pitch times for all 81 home games that will take place at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento next season–the first of at least three seasons in California’s capital city.

Of the A’s 81 home games, 60 will occur at night (7:05 pm PT). 11 of the 21 day games will take place in cooler months, April and May, leaving just six Sunday day games during the summer months (June-August).

This is MLB’s attempt to navigate the brutal Sacramento summer temperatures and ensure that the bulk of these home games are played in comfortable conditions. Of course, a lot of work remains in ensuring that Sutter Health Park, home to the AAA Sacramento River Cats, is up to major-league standards by March, but the night-game-heavy schedule is a start.
