A’s OF Esteury Ruiz undergoes arthroscopic knee surgery

The Oakland Athletics announced this week that outfielder Esteury Ruiz underwent a procedure to fix the patellar tendon in his right knee.
Ruiz, 25, has not appeared in a game for the Athletics since May 22nd. The outfielder finished his brief 2024 season with two home runs and five stolen bases in just 55 plate appearances (29 games) following a 2023 campaign that saw Ruiz swipe 67 bases.

Outfielder Esteury Ruiz underwent successful right knee arthroscopic surgery with Dr.
Dan Cooper at the Carrell Clinic in Dallas, Tex. Dr. Cooper performed a patella tendon debridement along with a chondroplasty procedure. He will complete post-surgical rehabilitation in the offseason to prepare for 2025 Spring Training.

This week, the A’s will play their final series at the Coliseum against the Texas Rangers in a three-game set that will conclude on Thursday afternoon.
Large crowds are expected for the final three games, with Thursday’s finale already having been announced as a sellout.
Ahead of what will surely be an emotional week for Athletics fans and citizens of Oakland, team owner John Fisher released a statement on Monday that featured an apology to the fanbase–one that the owner says he hopes will stick around as the franchise “moves forward on this amazing journey.”
