Casey Schmitt launched a walk-off double to left-center field with two outs in the 10th inning Sunday afternoon, sending the San Francisco Giants to a 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

After Luke Jackson (1-1) had stranded runners at second and third in a scoreless top of the 10th, Schmitt came through with his two-strike bomb that one-hopped the fence against Lucas Sims to score extra-innings runner Luis Matos. Emilio Pagan (2-3) took the loss after walking Blake Sabol with two outs in the 10th and being lifted for Sims.

The see-saw affair saw the Reds go up 3-0 in the first and the Giants take a 5-3 lead in the fifth before Cincinnati rallied into a 5-5 tie after Jake Fraley singled in a run in the seventh and Mike Ford led off the eighth with his first home run of the season.

More on Giants vs. Reds

The first inning was a painful one for both teams as, first, Reds leadoff batter TJ Friedl was hit near the left thumb by a Kyle Harrison pitch. He remained in the game to score the first of three Cincinnati runs on a bases-clearing double by Jeimer Candelario, but didn’t take the field for the bottom of the inning.

Giants leadoff batter Jung Hoo Lee never got a chance to hit. He crashed into the center-field wall chasing Candelario’s double and was pulled from the game immediately with separated left shoulder.

Reds starter Frankie Montas took a 3-0 lead into the fifth, but it was gone by the time Tyler Fitzgerald doubled, Matt Chapman singled in one and LaMonte Wade Jr. cleared the right-field wall to tie it with his second home run of the season.

The hosts went onto take a 5-3 lead in the inning, with Heliot Ramos singling in Wilmer Flores, before a throwing error by Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz on a Brent Sabol grounder plated Ramos.

The fifth run was charged to Montas, who had been pulled before the Sabol at-bat. He was charged with four earned runs on seven hits in his 4 2/3 innings, with one walk and three strikeouts.

Harrison went five innings for the Giants, allowing three runs and three hits. He walked five and struck out five.

Flores and Ramos finished with two hits apiece for the Giants, who took the final two games of the series after losing the opener.

Jonathan India had three hits and Santiago Espinal two, and Spencer Steer scored twice for the Reds, who have lost 10 of their last 11.
