Tyler Fitzgerald hit two home runs, Kyle Harrison struck out 11 and the San Francisco Giants opened a four-game home series with an 11-4 romp over the Colorado Rockies on Friday night.

Jorge Soler began a big night by hitting Kyle Freeland’s sixth pitch of the game for his 12th homer of the season, helping the Giants win for just the sixth time in their last 16 games. Soler had three hits, four runs and three RBIs.

The Giants tacked on two runs in the second and three in the fourth en route to a commanding lead. Soler contributed RBI singles to both rallies, with his fourth-inning hit immediately followed by Fitzgerald’s first homer, a two-run shot.

Giants vs. Rockies recap

Fitzgerald, who began the night with just eight career homers, connected again after Soler walked in the sixth, capping off his first multiple-homer game. The blasts gave him eight for the season. Seven have come in his last eight games, a stretch that included two in two games against the Rockies in Colorado last week.

Soler, who also walked twice in five plate appearances, enjoyed his third three-hit game of the season. His second walk came in the eighth and was followed by Fitzgerald’s single and a three-run homer by Heliot Ramos, his 15th homer of the season.

Harrison (6-4) was dominant in his 6 2/3 innings, limiting the Rockies to one run and one hit. His 11 strikeouts matched his career-best. He walked two.

Colorado’s only hit against the left-hander was Michael Toglia’s single to right leading off the third inning. He eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Ezequiel Tovar.

The Rockies completed their scoring in the eighth with a two-run triple by Brenton Doyle in the eighth and one in the ninth on Elias Diaz’s infield out.

Kris Bryant’s double in the ninth was the only other extra-base hit for the Rockies.

Freeland (2-4) was pulled after four innings, charged with six runs and eight hits. He walked one and struck out eight.

Fitzgerald finished with three hits, three runs and four RBIs as the Giants out-hit the Rockies 14-5. Ramos and Mike Yastrzemski chipped in two hits apiece.
