More on the Top 100 MLB Prospects rankings
26. Jacob Wilson | Oakland Athletics | SS
Wilson, 22, is the No. 26th overall prospect in baseball. He was Oakland’s first pick of the draft last year, going sixth overall, and earned a quick promotion by hitting .401 with eight home runs and 47 RBIs in 284 minor league at-bats bridging the 2023 and ‘24 seasons.
Contact is Wilson’s strong suit, as the rookie has walked almost as many times (12) as he has struck out in the minors (13) this season.
The shortstop made a brief MLB debut on July 19th, picking up a base hit in his lone at-bat before exiting the game moments later with a hamstring strain. Wilson will begin a rehab assignment with AAA Las Vegas this weekend.
45. Nick Kurtz | Oakland Athletics | 1B
Oakland used the 4th overall pick in this summer’s draft on Wake Forest first baseman Nick Kurtz, a power-hitting threat with a strong eye (NCAA-leading 78 walks in 2024).
Kurtz, 21, is 6’5 and 240 pounds and hits from the left side of the plate.
The first baseman posted a 1.294 OPS this season while also posting the highest on-base percentage of his college career (.531). His 22 homers in 2024 included a stretch with at least one long ball in seven straight games.
54. Bryce Eldrige | San Francisco Giants | 1B
Eldridge, 19, was the 16th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Madison High School in Virginia.
The first baseman has burst onto the scene with Single-A San Jose this season, batting .285 with 14 home runs, 70 RBI, and a .863 OPS over 83 games.
88. Hayden Birdsong | San Francisco Giants | SP
Birdsong is currently slotted into the Giants’ starting rotation, holding a record of 3-2 and a 5.40 ERA over eight starts.
The 22-year-old was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Eastern Illinois University.
99. James Tibbs II | San Francisco Giants | OF
Tibbs, 21, was Florida State’s highest draft pick since Posey joined the Giants in 2008–a partnership that led to countless accolades and three World Series titles. The Giants selected Tibbs with the 13th overall selection in this year’s MLB Draft.
The ACC Player of the Year posted a .363 average, mashed 28 home runs, and racked up a 1.264 OPS over 66 games.
