Three members of the San Francisco Giants currently on the injured list will be suiting up for the Sacramento River Cats this week as they inch closer to rejoining the active roster.
The Giants announced on Monday that infielder Thairo Estrada (left wrist sprain), pitcher Tristan Beck (vascular injury), and recently acquired reliever Tyler Matzek (left elbow strain) will all begin rehab assignments with the River Cats on Tuesday night at Sutter Health Park.
Sacramento will begin a six-game homestand against the Salt Lake Bees, the AAA affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, on Tuesday. The series will run through Sunday afternoon.
Estrada (.216 average, nine home runs, 43 RBI) has been sidelined since July 26th due to a wrist sprain but is close to a return for a Giants team that has won 13 of its past 19 games.
Beck has yet to appear in a game for San Francisco this season due to having surgery to remove an aneurysm in the upper part of his pitching arm in early March. The right-hander was 3-3 with a 3.92 ERA over 33 appearances with the Giants in 2023.
Matzek, who the Giants acquired from the Atlanta Braves on July 29th, is rehabbing a left elbow strain that has held him out of action since May 4th. The left-hander holds a 9.90 ERA over ten innings of work this season.
Here’s where you can find information on tickets if you want to see Estrada, Beck, and Matzek in action this week at Sutter Health Park.
