Langeliers, Kurtz elected to 2026 MLB All-Star Game

For the second straight season, the Athletics will have multiple players in the MLB All-Star Game.

Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers and first baseman Nick Kurtz were both elected to the 2026 MLB All-Star Game in Philadelphia (Tuesday, July 14th), and both players will be slotted into the starting lineup for the Midsummer Classic.

Two Athletics Elected to 2026 MLB All-Star Game

Shea Langeliers has been elected by the fans as starting catcher and Nick Kurtz was selected by the players for the American League in the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia on July 14. Langeliers becomes the first A’s catcher to start the All-Star Game since Terry Steinbach in 1989.

Kurtz is the first A’s first baseman selected to the All-Star Game since Matt Olson in 2021. After Jacob Wilson and Brent Rooker went to the MLB All-Star Game in 2025, the A’s have now had multiple players elected to the All-Star Game in consecutive years since 2018 & 2019.

Langeliers ranks second among MLB catchers in home runs (20) and hits (87), third in slugging percentage (.494) and extra-base hits (36), tied third in doubles (16), fourth in OPS (.822), and fifth in on-base percentage (.328).

Langeliers has hit 20 home runs in four consecutive seasons, joining Khris Davis as the only A’s players with 20 home runs in four consecutive seasons in the last 20 years.

Kurtz is now the fourth A’s first baseman to be selected to the All-Star Game since 2000, joining Matt Olson (2021), Yonder Alonso (2017), and Jason Giambi (2000 & 2001). Kurtz leads MLB in RBI (66), and walks (76), second in on-base percentage (.424), tied second in runs scored (61), third in OPS (.949), and tied seventh in go-ahead RBI (15).

Kurtz won American League Player of the Month for May this season and was voted the unanimous 2025 American League Rookie of the Year.
