One pitcher who will not return this season is right-hander Gunnar Hoglund. Hoglund, who was placed on the 60-day IL with a lumbar strain and left hip impingement, underwent successful surgery on his left hip on May 19 in Vail, Colorado.

The A’s announced that the procedure will sideline the young pitcher for the remainder of the 2026 campaign.

Reliever Brooks Kriske is also working his way back from a right shoulder impingement. Doctors diagnosed the issue as a posterior capsule sprain with internal impingement.

Kriske began a throwing progression on June 11, though the club has not established a timetable for his return.

Veteran right-hander Mark Leiter Jr. continues to rehab in Sacramento after being placed on the 15-day injured list with a right hip impingement. Leiter has resumed throwing activities, but the Athletics have yet to provide an estimated return date.

Slugger Brent Rooker, one of the club’s most important offensive contributors, remains sidelined with a left knee bone bruise.

Meanwhile, starting pitcher Luis Severino continues his recovery from a right shoulder strain.

An MRI revealed damage to both the shoulder capsule and the subscapularis muscle. Severino received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection on June 4 and remains in Sacramento as he progresses through his rehabilitation.

While several players have begun throwing or hitting programs, the Athletics are still awaiting clearer timelines for many of their injured contributors as they look to remain competitive in the postseason hunt.
