Athletics Injury Updates: May 5, 2026
Outfielder Denzel Clarke, currently on the 10-day injured list with a right foot bone bruise, is beginning to make progress. The 24-year-old has started a ground-based running progression and has also resumed hitting as part of his rehab process. Clarke has been sidelined since April and, while the latest developments are encouraging, the club has not provided a timetable for his return.
Right-hander Gunnar Hoglund, on the 60-day injured list with a lumbar strain and left hip impingement, recently received a cortisone injection in his left hip on May 1.
He will continue his rehab progression in Sacramento as he works his way back. Hoglund has yet to return to game action, and like several others on this list, remains without a clear timeline.
Infielder Max Muncy, who is on the 10-day injured list with a fracture in the fifth metacarpal of his left hand, is currently not participating in any baseball activities.
Muncy continues to recover after suffering the injury, and at this stage, there is no timetable for when he might resume baseball work or return to the lineup.
For now, the first-place Athletics remain in a holding pattern, with progress being made in certain cases but no definitive answers on when reinforcements will arrive.
