The Athletics received encouraging news on two key contributors this week, as shortstop Jacob Wilson and veteran right-hander Aaron Civale continue progressing toward returns from the injured list.

Wilson, who has been sidelined since May 11 with a left shoulder subluxation, is set to play shortstop for Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday night in Omaha. The rookie infielder suffered the injury after a strong start to the season.

Before landing on the 10-day injured list, Wilson was batting .292 with three home runs and 19 RBI in 39 games. The 24-year-old had emerged as one of the Athletics’ most reliable offensive performers and provided stability at shortstop.

Meanwhile, Civale appears to be getting close to rejoining the big league rotation. The right-hander has been on the 15-day injured list since May 25 with right shoulder tendonitis. Prior to the injury, Civale compiled a 5-2 record and a 4.20 ERA across 11 starts.

Civale is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, June 11, in Omaha, marking another significant step toward his return.

Elsewhere on the injury front, center fielder Denzel Clarke remains on the 60-day injured list because of a left hamstring strain. Clarke is currently rehabbing in Sacramento, though he has not resumed baseball activities.

Right-hander Gunnar Hoglund underwent successful surgery on his left hip on May 19 in Vail, Colorado, to address a lumbar strain and left hip impingement. Hoglund will miss the remainder of the 2026 season.

Another pitcher facing an uncertain timeline is Brooks Kriske. The right-hander is dealing with a posterior capsule sprain and internal impingement in his right shoulder. Kriske received an ultrasound-guided cortisone injection on May 19 and currently has no timetable for a return.

Veteran starter Luis Severino is also working his way back. An MRI revealed a strain involving the shoulder capsule and subscapularis muscle in his right shoulder. Severino received a PRP injection on June 4 and is continuing his rehabilitation program in Sacramento.

While several members of the pitching staff remain sidelined, the Athletics could soon receive reinforcements. Wilson’s rehab assignment and Civale’s upcoming start with Triple-A Las Vegas provide two positive developments for a club hoping to get healthier as the season progresses.
