SF Giants prospect Bo Davidson named PCL Player of the Month for August

Minor League Baseball announced its Player and Pitcher of the Month winners for August on Wednesday, with Sacramento River Cats outfielder Bo Davidson earning Pacific Coast League Player of the Month honors.

The recognition adds another accomplishment to what has been an impressive season for Davidson, who is currently ranked as the No. 8 prospect in the San Francisco Giants organization by MLB Pipeline.

Davidson dominated at the plate throughout August, hitting .323/.410/.636 with 32 hits, seven home runs, 10 doubles and 28 RBI. His 63 total bases and 28 RBI both led the PCL, while he ranked second in doubles and home runs.

He also finished third in hits and slugging percentage and fourth in OPS with a 1.046 mark.

The month didn’t begin particularly well for Bo Davidson, who opened August 0-for-15. He quickly turned things around, going 32-for-84 (.381) over the remainder of the month while recording nine multi-hit games across his final 21 contests.

Davidson matched his career high with four hits twice during the month, doing so on Aug. 13 and Aug. 16 against Las Vegas.

His best stretch came from Aug. 10-16, when Davidson was named the PCL Player of the Week. He went 14-for-25 (.560) during that span with three doubles, four home runs, 12 RBI and two walks, finishing with a remarkable 1.767 OPS.

During that week, Bo Davidson led all of Triple-A in batting average among players with at least 15 at-bats. He also led the level in hits and total bases with 29 while ranking second in both home runs and RBI.

The 24-year-old Davidson signed with the Giants as a free agent out of Caldwell Tech Community College in Hudson, North Carolina, on July 25, 2023.

Bo Davidson is the third Sacramento player to earn a MiLB Player or Pitcher of the Month award this season. Carson Whisenhunt won the honor in May, while Turner Hill took home the award in July.
