Report: Klay Thompson is ‘open to all external options’

After being drafted to the Golden State Warriors with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, rumors and reporting continue to circle around where Klay Thompson may land as he enters unrestricted free agency.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the sharpshooting guard is exploring options outside of the franchise where he’s been a crucial member of four NBA Championships “for the first time in his career.”

Charania continued to say it’s clear “the Warriors want him back” based on their extension offer before the 2023-24 season, but that Klay Thompson will “be there in the marketplace, seeking offers elsewhere.”

During his time in Golden State, Thompson has accrued five All-Star appearances, two All-NBA recognitions, and All-Defense in 2018-19. Could we have seen the end of the Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green version of the Warriors — with their last game being a play-in loss to the Sacramento Kings?

When is the next NBA off-season date of interest for Klay Thompson?

The NBA Draft is now a two-night event.

Wednesday, June 26th, will act as the first night of the 2024 NBA Draft, where the Sacramento Kings will make their first-round selection (13th). The second round of the draft will be held on Thursday, June 27th, where the Kings will use its 45th overall pick.

Sacramento hasn’t had a first-round pick since 2022, when it selected Iowa product Keegan Murray with the fourth overall pick.
