Sam Amick on how the Kings’ recent behavior could affect De’Aaron Fox’s future

It’s been a tumultuous week for the Sacramento Kings, but two straight wins have alleviated some pressure.
While the Kings have secured back-to-back victories, the firing of head coach Mike Brown could leave a lasting imprint on the organization, especially when factoring in the future of star guard De’Aaron Fox.
The Athletic’s Sam Amick joined The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross to share his intel of what transpired leading to Brown’s firing, make clear that Fox was not responsible for the decision, share the latest trade rumblings surrounding Sacramento, and much more.
Topics Discussed
- Sam published a story this week highlighting Sacrameno’s failure to speak up after firing Mike Brown.
- De’Aaron Fox has had fingers pointed at him for the firing, but Sam says Fox had nothing to do with the move.
- There still hasn’t been a press conference from Vivek Ranadive or Monte McNair to explain the decision.
- “It’s just not what healthy organizations do.”
- How has this situation affected Fox’s future in Sacramento?
- Sam says the Kings are not taking calls on Fox this season.
- What’s more likely to happen: Fox will demand a trade, or Sacramento will pull the trigger on a deal first?
- Trade talks surrounding Fox could heat up in the summer if the Kings don’t make significant improvements.
- Does Fox’s uncertain future mean Sacramento will be aggressive at the upcoming trade deadline?
- “They want to add for sure.”
- Cam Johnson is a priority for the Kings, but the asking price from Brooklyn remains high.
- Thoughts on Doug Christie taking the reigns of Sacramento: “This has been an idea [the Kings] have had for a while.”

More Kings coverage from Sactown Sports
The Sacramento Kings were on their way to their latest letdown on their home floor, trailing by nine points with less than four minutes to go against the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night.
Rather than roll over and fall back to six games under the .500 mark, the Kings displayed fight that fans in attendance have been waiting weeks to witness.
Sacramento finished the night on a 15-0 run behind strong closing performances from De’Aaron Fox and Malik Monk to complete a 113-107 win, snap the 76ers’ four-game winning streak, and create a victory streak of their own–two games–to build on their momentum from Monday’s win over Dallas.
The Kings (15-19) locked in on both ends for the final 3:34 of play, containing star forward Paul George down the final stretch and lighting the beam for the second time this week.
