As we inch closer to the 2024 NBA Draft, Allen Stiles and Chris Watkins are beginning to examine players who could be on the Sacramento Kings’ radar.
The Kings hold the 13th pick in the draft, meaning they could bring in a player to help the team from day one, whether by using the pick on a prospect or by moving the pick to upgrade the roster via trade.
For Sacramento, adding a floor-spacing forward or big should be on general manager Monte McNair’s to-do list, but that doesn’t mean he won’t pick the player he and the rest of the Kings’ front office believe to be the best available.
Today, Allen and Chris break down USC guard Isaiah Collier, a member of the Pac-12 All-Freshman team and a player who could be on the board when Sacramento uses its draft pick.
Isaiah Collier| SG | Height: 6’5 | Weight: 198 lbs | Age: 19 | Big Board: 15th
Stats: 27 games | 16.3 points | 2.9 rebounds | 4.3 assists | 1.5 steals | 0.2 blocks | 49% FG | 33% 3PT | 30.0 minutes
Scouting Report via NBA Draft Room
A true point guard with a good size, a strong frame, and plays with great pace and balance. Collier is a floor general who knows how to run the show. He’s a great passer and instinctual playmaker who makes his teammates better.
He can also create his own offense and take over games when needed. He brings a lot of leadership and confidence and is like a coach on the floor.
Excels at running the pick and role. Has a remarkable feel for the game and is incredibly crafty with the ball, although can be too turnover prone and needs to make more consistently intelligent decisions with the ball.
Isn’t the most explosive player or above-the-rim athlete. Relies on his size/bulk, which might not be as easy at the NBA level. He isn’t a big wingspan guy either, which could lead to more struggles against NBA size.
Isn’t a great 3pt shooter or outside shooter in general. He hit 34% from three in his one year at USC, so not terrible, but it’s not a strength of his game. And he shot just 67% from the FT line.
Suffered a broken hand midway through his freshman season at USC.
When is the next Sacramento Kings off-season date of interest?
The NBA Draft is now a two-night event.
