The NBA Draft is just over three weeks away, meaning the rumor mill is beginning to ramp up.
It’s no secret that the Sacramento Kings will look to upgrade their roster this summer after falling one game short of a second-consecutive NBA Playoff appearance. But how?
With limited cap space and the impending free agency of Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Malik Monk, Kings general manager Monte McNair will have to get creative in order to add to the franchise’s core of De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Keegan Murray.
One asset that could be used to acquire talent is the team’s 13th overall pick in this month’s NBA Draft. According to Forbes Sports’ Evan Sidrey, Sacramento intends to shop their first-round draft pick and attempt to bring in a “win-now piece.”
The Kings intend to shop the No. 13 overall pick along with future draft capital to aggressively hunt a win-now piece. Harrison Barnes and Kevin Huerter are two players who will likely be dangled in trade talks over the next month.
Sacramento wants to seriously compete within the midst of De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis’ prime years.

Who could the Sacramento Kings target if they move the 13th pick–among other assets–in the coming weeks? Allen Stiles and Chris Watkins of Stiles & Watkins discussed what options McNair and the front office could look to trade for:
Topics Discussed
- Sacramento reportedly wants to move the 13th pick in the NBA Draft.
- Zach LaVine and Kyle Kuzma could be targets for the Kings. Are there any other players that could be on Sacramento’s radar?
- What kind of players should McNair be looking to trade for? (Defenders, scorers, etc.)
- Atlanta Hawks star Dejounte Murray could be moved this summer. Would he be a fit for the Kings?
- Chris thinks Sacramento needs another scoring wing: “I think forwards have been the trump card in basketball.”
- Should McNair’s top priority be retaining Malik Monk before looking to trade for a wing?

When is the next NBA off-season date of interest?
