Every year, the NBA recognizes players who exhibit exceptional respect and high character through their competitions with the NBA Sportsmanship Award. Sacramento’s Harrison Barnes is well-known as a good teammate and all-around person, both within the NBA and off the court, landing his name within consideration.
Named after a former Sacramento executive (and Hall of Fame player), the “Joe Dumars” NBA Sportsmanship Award finalists were Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen, Sacramento’s Harrison Barnes, Miami’s Kevin Love, Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey, and San Antonio’s Tre Jones.
Ultimately, Barnes finished fifth among the grouping, with Tyrese Maxey of the Sixers ultimately winning the award.

Barnes did receive the second most first-place votes but fell short. His personality has been highly regarded since joining the league, functioning as a key member of the NBA Player’s Association. Earning consideration for the Joe Dumars NBA Sportsmanship Award reconfirms that idea.
