The Sacramento Kings have been running on fumes over the past week–well, they’ve been running as far as De’Aaron Fox takes them–as they deal with a series of injuries to its core rotation.
While Fox has put on a show to keep the Kings competitive, Sacramento has sorely missed three of its main contributors:
High-scoring forward DeMar DeRozan, All-NBA center Domantas Sabonis, and Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Malik Monk.
Good news arrived on Monday afternoon as the Kings provided updates on each injured player ahead of three consecutive off-days for a Sacramento team that could use some down-time.
Sacramento Kings Injury Updates
Kings guard Malik Monk, who has missed four (4) games due to a moderate right ankle sprain sustained during the second quarter against the Phoenix Suns on November 10, was re-evaluated today. Monk has been cleared for individual on-court workouts. He will be listed as out tonight versus the Atlanta Hawks and will be re-evaluated in the coming days.
Kings guard-forward DeMar DeRozan, who has missed two (2) games due to lower back tightness, was re-evaluated today. DeRozan has made significant improvement and has also been cleared for individual on-court workouts. He will be listed as out tonight versus the Atlanta Hawks and is considered day-to-day going forward.
Kings center Domantas Sabonis, who has missed one (1) game due to lower back tightness, was re-evaluated today. Sabonis has made significant improvement and has been cleared for individual on-court workouts. He will be listed as out tonight versus the Atlanta Hawks and is considered day-to-day going forward.
More on the Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings played five games last week, with Malik Monk, DeMar DeRozan, and Domantas Sabonis unavailable for varying times during that stretch. Recognizing the moment, De’Aaron Fox stepped up, earning his first Western Conference Player of the Week award in the 2024-25 season.
Fox and the Kings were 2-2 in those four games, which included two back-to-back showings. Fox averaged 40.5 points, 7.3 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and two steals on 57.4 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from three, and 81 percent from the free throw line on 10.5 attempts per game.
