One year ago, Keon Ellis was still trying to prove himself at the NBA level during Summer League play in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This summer, Ellis is suiting up for the Sacramento Kings in Las Vegas for different reasons.
After emerging as a three-and-D threat for the Kings, Ellis was converted from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal near the end of last season. The undrafted Alabama product filled in remarkably as the starting shooting guard, filling in for the injured Kevin Huerter (shoulder) as Sacramento chased a postseason spot.
Although Ellis and the Kings fell one win short of an NBA Playoff berth, the guard made his mark on head coach Mike Brown and the rest of Sacramento’s coaching staff.
Ellis is back in Summer League to hone his skills and continue to build on his strong 2023-24 campaign. The guard sat down with Jason Ross this week to reflect on his NBA journey, expand on what he’s working on during Summer League, and much more.
