It’s rare to see Sacramento Kings head coach Mike Brown get upset, but the fireworks flew during Sunday night’s action at Golden 1 Center.
Brown was assessed with a technical foul at the 7:13 mark of the third quarter of Sunday’s game as the Brooklyn Nets held a 19-point lead. With the game slipping away, Brown took exception to a no-call on Colby Jones’ attempt at the basket moments earlier.
Jones did not benefit from a whistle, and the Nets jumped out in transition with numbers to get an open triple, leading to Brown’s outburst on the sideline.
The NBA announced on Tuesday that the league has fined Brown $35,000 for “aggressively pursuing a game official during live play.”
“I thought Colby got hit going to the rim,” Brown said following Sunday’s loss of his technical foul. “I just wanted to show our guys that we all need to fight. I’m going to try to fight, you guys try to fight and see if we can find a way to get ourselves back into the game. If we’re going to go down, we’re going to go down swinging.”
Brown was not suspended for his actions vs Brooklyn, meaning that he will be on the sideline when the Kings look to snap a four-game losing streak on Wednesday night in Minnesota.

More Sacramento Kings coverage from Sactown Sports
For 24 minutes, it looked as if the Sacramento Kings had turned the page on a rough stretch that had dropped them beneath the .500 mark in the early stages of the regular season.
Then, the second half started.
Monday night’s game between the Kings and Oklahoma City Thunder ended familiarly for Sacramento, as MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (37 points) led his team to a 130-109 win at Golden 1 Center.
Although the Kings benefited from the return of Sixth Man guard Malik Monk (ankle sprain), Sacramento’s defense continued its recent track record of allowing opponents to get red-hot from the three-point line.
The Thunder finished the night 14-of-32 (44%) from the perimeter, which was more than enough to create the space needed to collect the win.
With the loss, the Kings (8-10) fall to 4-6 on their home floor this season in what was also Sacramento’s fourth consecutive loss.
