The Sacramento Kings are already very thin in the front court, and now they will begin preseason without their third center on the depth chart.
Orlando Robinson, a seven-foot center who was signed to a one-year deal to provide Sacramento with depth behind All-NBA big man Domantas Sabonis, has suffered an MCL sprain in his left knee and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.
With Robinson out of action, the Kings will begin their preseason slate of games with just three players listed 6’10 or taller on the raining camp roster: Sabonis (6’10), Skal Labissière (6’10), and Alex Len (7’0).

In two NBA seasons with the Miami Heat, Robinson played 729 minutes throughout the course of 67 combined games, averaging 3.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game on 51 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent from deep.
Over nine G-League games played with the Sioux Falls Skyforce last season, Robinson averaged 24.3 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.1 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 steals on 57.5 percent from the field, 37.5 percent from three, and 63.2 percent on free-throws in 33.6 minutes.
Robinson joined forward Trey Lyles (groin), guard Kevin Huerter (shoulder), and guard Jordan McLaughlin (ankle) as players who will be out of action for the start of exhibition games this week as they recover from injuries.
We are still over two weeks away from Sacramento’s season-opener on October 24th against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the injury bug is biting hard thus far in camp.
When is the next Sacramento Kings game?
The Kings will go through a week of practice and full-contact workouts before opening up the preseason portion of their 2024-25 schedule at home against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, October 9th.
