The Sacramento Kings may be getting some help in the form of their lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. According to FOX40’s Sean Cunningham, Devin Carter “has been cleared for unrestricted basketball activity.”
Carter has yet to play in an NBA game since undergoing left shoulder surgery after being drafted 13th overall to Sacramento.
Sitting at 12th in the Western Conference, Sacramento could use all the help they could get. Coming out of Providence, the rookie was projected to be a quickly impactful two-way combo guard with the ability to guard up thanks to his 6’9 wingspan.

He is expected to be assigned to G League Stockton soon to get reps with live play.</p>— Sean Cunningham (@SeanCunningham) <a href=”https://twitter.com/SeanCunningham/status/1872384407463665773?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>December 26, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>
He plays with relentless energy, but expectations should be tempered for Devin Carter, considering his circumstances.
Later in the day, the Sacramento Kings announced that Devin Carter had been assigned to their G-League team. With the winter showcase completed, the Stockton Kings will begin their regular season against the Austin Spurs at 5 p.m. in Golden 1 Center.

It’ll be interesting to see what Devin Carter can bring early in his rookie campaign, especially considering the Kings overcrowded guard rotation between De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Kevin Huerter, and Keon Ellis.
