Report: Sacramento rookie Devin Carter to undergo shoulder surgery
Jul 7, 2024, 1:39 PM
After confirmation that the latest lottery pick for the Sacramento Kings, Providence’s Devin Carter, would not be participating in Summer League it’s now known he will be getting surgery next week.
Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Devin Carter “is expected to undergo left shoulder surgery next week.”
According to the reporting, it places the status of the 13th overall pick in question for the start of the regular season, “but he is fully expected to make a full recovery with no long-term issues.”
Kings acquired DeMar DeRozan and reached a deal with point guard Jordan McLaughlin to shore up the backcourt in recent days. Sacramento dealt with similar shoulder procedure for Kevin Huerter near end of last season, and timelines can vary based on rehab and recovery. https://t.co/wRQIVhk7vF

With a handful of other guards on the roster, others should be able to step up in the meantime while Devin Carter full recovers to a point where he can contribute to winning basketball in California’s capital.
During Carter’s introductory press conference, general manager Monte McNair made it clear that he views the draft as an opportunity to add a player who will be around for years.
