Kings celebrating their 40th season in Sacramento with ‘Classic Edition’ jersey

The 2024-25 NBA season marks the Sacramento Kings 40th season playing in California’s capital. Today, on 916 Day, the team announced that they will be honoring that anniversary.

“As we celebrate 40 years of the Kings in Sacramento, we are excited to pay tribute to our city and the unforgettable moments we have seen on the court while looking forward to what is to come,” said Sacramento Kings President of Business Operations John Rinehart via the Kings press release.

This throwback to the original road uniform, worn from 2002-2008, marked the first time “Sacramento” appeared across the chest, displayed in bold white lettering with a black outline. The uniform’s primary color, a vibrant, rich purple, created a strong visual impact on the court. The secondary “SK” logo, introduced in 1994 and a staple of the team’s brand until 2014, made its uniform debut with this design, featured on the right side of the shorts.

According to the release, “The jersey will be available for purchase starting October 1 at the Label K team store in DOCO and at KingsTeamStore.com/Classic. And a special three-piece merchandise collection from Authmade is available now, with additional items released throughout the season from Mitchell & Ness and Nike.”

When is the next Sacramento Kings offseason date of interest?

Now that we know when the Kings will suit up for their season-opener, we can look forward to October 24th for the Beam Team’s season-opening matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Training camps will begin at the end of September, meaning there could still be a move or two up general manager Monte McNair’s sleeve to round out Sacramento’s roster before players report to Golden 1 Center.
