With less than one month to go until players report for training camp, the Sacramento Kings have added another forward to its roster.
According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the Kings have signed forward Terry Taylor to a deal that will give the 24-year-old a chance to make the opening night roster during training camp.
Taylor has played power forward for the bulk of his four-year NBA career, which has included stops in Indiana and Chicago. The 6’5, 230-pound forward provides Sacramento with another big body at the forward position, an area of need for a Kings roster that lacks depth at the four.

One aspect of Taylor’s skillset that could be enticing to Sacramento is his 6’11.5 wingspan, longer than Domantas Sabonis or Keegan Murray’s on the current Kings roster.
Taylor averaged just 6.1 minutes per game with the Bulls in 2023-24, but his per-36 rebounding numbers grade out well (7.1) in a larger sample size.

*NBA teams can carry up to 21 players during the offseason before trimming things down to 18 for the regular season (15 standard roster spots and 3 two-way contracts)*
The Kings are very heavy at the guard spots, with several guards (De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Keon Ellis, and Kevin Huerter) capable of logging minutes in the starting unit.
Sacramento’s big swing of the offseason was the sign-and-trade deal for six-time All-Star wing DeMar DeRozan, who seems to be in line to slot next to Keegan Murray in the Kings’ starting forward spots. Outside of DeRozan, the only other forward that McNair has acquired this summer was Jalen McDaniels, who logged just 10.8 minutes per game last season for the Toronto Raptors.
When is the next Sacramento Kings offseason date of interest?
Now that we know when the Kings will suit up for their season-opener, we can look forward to October 24th for the Beam Team’s season-opening matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Training camps will begin at the end of September, meaning there could still be a move or two up general manager Monte McNair’s sleeve to round out Sacramento’s roster before players report to Golden 1 Center.
