There’s more movement in the Western Conference. According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Atlanta Hawks have traded guard Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for Larry Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels, and two future first-round picks.
The picks included are a Los Angeles Lakers’ 2025 first-round pick (a draft that is already being toted as very deep and impressive) and the least favorable of the Milwaukee Bucks and Pelicans first-round picks in 2027.
Sactown Sports’s The Drive Guys — Kevin “Whitey” Gleason and Kyle Draper, play-by-play broadcaster for the Sacramento Kings — shared their immediate thoughts and reactions on air as the news broke.
Of course, the not only looked at what the deal could mean for the Pelicans and Western Conference as a whole, but more specifically from Sacramento’s perspective. With a few of their direct competitors making moves that could improve their rosters, does general manager Monte McNair need to get something done this offseason?
When is the next NBA off-season date of interest?
Now that the NBA Draft is in the rearview, all eyes will shift to the start of free agency.
All 30 teams will be able to negotiate free-agent deals with players beginning this Sunday, June 30th, at 3:00 PM PDT.
Sacramento already did some heavy lifting by agreeing to a four-year, $78 million deal with Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Malik Monk, as the two sides agreed on a long-term contract last weekend.
