It’s no secret that the Sacramento Kings need to shore up their forward depth before opening night next month, and the front office appears to be looking to address that need in the coming weeks.
According to The Athletic‘s Sam Amick, the Kings will bring in a trio of veteran forwards for workouts this week: TJ Warren, Jae Crowder, and Nassir Little.
Warren, 31, has dealt with a lingering foot injury over the past couple of seasons, which has limited the one high-scoring forward to just 57 games over the past four seasons. During the 2023-24 season, Warren appeared in 11 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves and averaged career lows in minutes per game (11.4), points per game (3.7), and field goal percentage (43%).
The NC State product holds career averages of 14.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game on 50 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent from three-point range during his nine-year career.
Per sources, the Kings are working out TJ Warren this week. The 31-year-old who averaged a career-high 19.8 points for the Pacers in 2019-20 last played with Minnesota last season (11 games).

Crowder, 34, played 50 games with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, where he averaged 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.8 steals on 42.2 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from three, and 72.2 percent on free throws.
Having spent 12 seasons in the NBA, Jae Crowder has been a significant member of multiple deep playoff runs and is known for his tenacious defense and efforts on the floor.
Little, 24, is the youngest of the three forwards who are seeking a new NBA home following a brief 45-game stint with the Phoenix Suns last season. The 6’5 wing holds career averages of 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game on 45/33/73 shooting splits over five NBA seasons.
While it’s unknown which player Sacramento is leaning towards signing, the fact that general manager Monte McNair is prioritizing the small forward position is a positive development as the Kings inch closer to the start of training camp with little-to-no wing insurance behind starters DeMar DeRozan and Keegan Murray.
Kevin Huerter (shoulder) could factor into the mix at the small forward position, but Sacramento will need help rounding out a roster that is currently guard-heavy before camp opens in two weeks.
When is the next Sacramento Kings offseason date of interest?
Now that we know when the Kings will suit up for their season-opener, we can look forward to October 24th for the Beam Team’s season-opening matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Training camps will begin at the end of September, meaning there could still be a move or two up general manager Monte McNair’s sleeve to round out Sacramento’s roster before players report to Golden 1 Center.
