Another round of offseason injuries has hit the Sacramento Kings. Per the team, Trey Lyles and Jordan McLaughlin were hurt during their offseason workouts. Lyles will be re-evaluated in three weeks, while it’s two weeks for McLaughlin.
Lyles suffered a left groin sprain, while McLaughlin had a grade two right ankle sprain.
Kevin Huerter, who is also currently sidelined while recovering from left shoulder surgery to a repair torn labrum, is expected to be re-evaluated in mid-October.
Unfortunately, 2024 NBA Draft lottery pick Devin Carter is dealing with the same post-surgery recovery process for a torn labrum as Huerter. Due to his June procedure, the Providence product is expected to be re-evaluated in January.
The Kings are hosting a media day on Monday (9/30). Training camp starts the following day, and the first preseason game is on October 9th.
McLaughlin’s approximate re-evaluation date is October 11th, while Lyles’ is the 18th. Therefore, they, along with Huerter and Carter, are expected to be unavailable for that showing.
It remains to be seen if they can return to on-court workouts and game shape to properly prepare for the October 24th regular-season opener.
When is the next Sacramento Kings offseason date of interest?
Now that we know when the Kings will suit up for their season-opener, we can look forward to October 24th for the Beam Team’s season-opening matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Training camps will begin at the end of September, meaning there could still be a move or two up general manager Monte McNair’s sleeve to round out Sacramento’s roster before players report to Golden 1 Center.
