De’Aaron Fox thanks the city of Sacramento after 7.5 years

After spending his first seven and a half NBA seasons with the Sacramento Kings, De’Aaron Fox has been traded to the San Antonio Spurs. The morning after the deal was announced, the former Kings’ guard took to social media to thank the city of Sacramento and their fanbase.
“I can’t quite find the words to express what I want to say, but thank you,” he said via X. “Coming in as a 19-year-old kid and leaving as a 27-year-old man, I’m grateful I got to spend the beginning of my young adulthood here. The love for the city is unmatched.”
From what I’ve gathered, Fox wanted it to work in Sacramento. He was never interested in going to another big city, and he even partially preferred San Antonio because the city has a similar feel to Sacramento.

Conversations got to this point because he grew tired of the front office not surrounding him with what he viewed as ideal talent in order to truly compete, especially from the forward position. It was a culmination from over his entire tenure under this organization.
“To the fans – y’all deserve the best,” De’Aaron Fox continued. “I wanted to end my career here and never expected it would end this way, but I’ll always be grateful for your support.”
“Thank you for the love you’ve showed me and my family. Sacramento will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Fox leaves the Kings at the leaderboards in many Sacramento-era all-time stats. He’s fourth in games played, second in points, first in assists and steals, while also being fourth in made threes.
His expected return to Golden 1 Center is booked for March 7th, when the Kings will host the visiting San Antonio Spurs.
It’s on to a new era in Sacramento after moving on from their longest-tenured player Sunday afternoon.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings have traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs, acquiring Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal.
Rumors had been swirling around Fox’s future in Sacramento for weeks, with the Spurs known to be his preferred destination.
The Kings are also acquiring three first-round picks in the deal: 2025 Charlotte, 2027 San Antonio, and a 2031 from the Timberwolves.
Highers ups within the Kings organization have been known to have an affinity for LaVine for years now, dating back to the four-year, $80-million offer sheet they extended to him in 2018.
