Fox, Murray & Davis’ statuses unclear for Sunday’s game vs Knicks

Keegan Murray (thumb) and Terence Davis (back) are ACTIVE.

The Sacramento Kings could be without three key players during Sunday afternoon’s matinee matchup against the New York Knicks.

According to the team’s latest injury report, De’Aaron Fox (right foot soreness), Keegan Murray (left thumb soreness), and Terence Davis (low back soreness) are all listed as questionable leading into today’s action at Madison Square Garden.

Fox has been dealing with a foot bruise for over two weeks and was inactive during Sacramento’s 106-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

“Fox got knocked up a bit,” Brown said of Fox’s injury before facing Cleveland. “He has some issues with his foot and some other things, so I thought the best thing would be to sit him tonight and let him get his body back, so he’s ready to continue on this long journey.”

The 24-year-old originally planned to try and play through the discomfort, but it appears as if the team will let the star guard take some time to heal up as the Kings set their sights on a postseason run.

Murray, who has been playing some of the best basketball of his young career over the past four games, is dealing with a sore thumb and could also be sidelined during today’s game in New York.

The rookie forward is averaging 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 60 percent from the field and 55 percent from beyond the three-point arc over his past four appearances. Murray drilled a career-high six three-pointers during Friday’s win over Cleveland.

If Sacramento is without Murray on Sunday, players like Trey Lyles and Chimezie Metu will likely get extended looks at the forward positions.

Davis, who has missed the past three games due to lower back soreness, could be out of action again as the Kings bench could suit up for another game without one of its key contributors.
