J-Ross & DC’s Kings Player Profiles: Cory Joseph

Last offseason, the Sacramento Kings inked veteran guard and former NBA champion Cory Joseph to a multi-year deal.

Joseph, who has played backup guard for contending teams such as the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors and Indiana Pacers, played in all 72 games for the Kings last season.

The 29-year-old has no problem staying on the floor, as he has logged minutes in 236 straight games dating back to 2017.

Playing in an expanded role last season due to De’Aaron Fox’s injury, CoJo started in 26 games–the most starts in any season of his career. Joseph averaged 6.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 0.7 steals per game.

A new front office has arrived in Sacramento, one that has looked to cut costs and get younger.

Joseph, who will make $12 million this season with a partial guarantee for 2021-22, will likely be in his last season with the franchise–unless the team shocks the basketball universe and snaps its 14-year playoff drought.

Will Sacramento look to move Joseph early in the season, opening minutes for Kyle Guy? Maybe the team will decide to hold onto the veteran to help mold rookie Tyrese Haliburton into a more complete player?
