Report: NBA and Amazon Prime Video ‘have framework for an agreement’

With their prior television deal (nine-year, $ 2.6 billion on average) ending after this postseason, a move is being made to streaming platforms. The NBA and Amazon Prime Video have a “framework deal for NBA broadcast rights,” per The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand.

According to the reporting, the deal between the NBA and Amazon Prime Video is expected to be “at least a decade” and begin next year, 2024-25. ESPN/ABC have a similar framework, also expected to last for at least a decade. They are also expected to keep the NBA Finals throughout the duration, per The Ahthletic‘s reporting.

ESPN/ABC has a similar framework, which is also expected to last for at least a decade. According to The Athletic, they are also expected to keep the NBA Finals throughout the duration. However, this has placed TNT in a more uncertain position at the current moment, with plenty of time left for negotiations.

“The advancement in the Amazon and ESPN talks leaves incumbent Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns network TNT Sports, to face off with NBC, owned by Comcast, for the likely last package of games. Warner Bros. Discovery has the right to match deals, but NBC could try to structure an agreement in a way that makes it difficult.”
