Several Sacramento Kings players officially become free agents
The offseason is underway for the Sacramento Kings. Which players are now officially free agents? Here's who is now on the open market.

An important offseason is officially underway for the Sacramento Kings.
With the NBA Finals in the rearview and next week’s 2026 NBA Draft quickly approaching, the time for roster turnover is almost here as second-year general manager Scott Perry looks to elevate this Kings team from the Western Conference cellar back into relevance.
Although the NBA’s official free agency negotiating window doesn’t open until June 30, teams can now begin discussions with their own impending free agents following the conclusion of the NBA Finals.
Here’s a look at the Sacramento Kings’ soon-to-be unrestricted free agents for the 2026 offseason:

Russell Westbrook | PG
Westbrook will enter free agency on the heels of an overall impressive 18th NBA season.
Over 64 games (58 starts), Westbrook averaged 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per game while delivering six triple-doubles–his highest mark during a single season in three years.
At a time when Sacramento lacked depth at the point guard position, Westbrook provided the Kings with stability at the position, one that Perry will likely look to address via the team’s seventh-overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
While both Westbrook and Perry expressed interest in a reunion in free agency, it remains to be seen if the future Hall of Fame guard would be open to another season in a rebuilding situation as Sacramento looks to establish an up-and-coming core.
Still, the veteran said he would love to return for Year 19 in a Kings uniform.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t mind coming back,” Westbrook said at his end-of-season press conference in April. “I mean, I’m always—anywhere I’m wanted, I’m there. I want to be able to be helpful, be productive, but also I understand it’s a business.”
Perry concurred that a Westbrook return is on the table for 2026-27, but added that both sides will continue to communicate and assess their options as the offseason unfolds.
“Russell’s always welcome with me. I loved working with Russell Westbrook this year,” Perry said. “I wish I had an opportunity to work with Russell earlier in my career. I really like what he stands for.”
Westbrook returning on another one-year, league minimum deal to take Sacramento’s seventh pick under his wing wouldn’t be the worst thing for this roster, especially when you factor in the rave reviews Westbrook got from Kings rookies Maxime Raynaud, Nique Clifford, and Dylan Cardwell this past season.
Precious Achiuwa | PF/C
After beginning the 2025-26 season without a job, Precious Achiuwa was arguably the surprise of the season for Sacramento.
Achiuwa had the best season of his career with the Kings. Starting in 57 of 73 games played, the 26-year-old recorded 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 52.8 percent from the field, all of which are career highs.
That obviously should play into his favor when negotiating a new contract, but Achiuwa didn’t hesitate to state his preference to stay put during his end-of-season press conference.
“For me, the most important thing is being somewhere where I’m wanted,” the 6’8 forward said in April. “A place [where] the organization wants me to be and where I enjoy being. You know, Sacramento is a place that I love being.
“My representation is going to be in constant communication with the organization and the front office, and hopefully, you know, I’m praying that we’re able to come to something that works for both sides.”

Perry, who, like Westbrook, told the media he would stay in touch with Achiuwa and would like to see the forward return next season, has limited frontcourt options entering the offseason, making a reunion ideal, though money will be a factor.
Unless Perry finds a trade that can offload salary, Sacramento has limited financial flexibility, meaning other teams will likely be able to offer Achiuwa more on the open market.
We’ll see if the two sides can come to a deal on the heels of a successful partnership in 2025-26.
Doug McDermott | SF
McDermott has spent the past two seasons in Sacramento, shooting 41 percent from long distance over 71 games.
It’s likely that Perry will look to utilize this roster spot in other ways this offseason, although that was the thought process last season, and McDermott still returned for his second year with the Kings.
Drew Eubanks | C
With Domantas Sabonis, Maxime Raynaud, and Dylan Cardwell currently on the Sacramento Kings roster, it’s unlikely that Eubanks is a candidate for a reunion this summer.
Eubanks averaged 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the field over 42 appearances (11 starts) with Sacramento in 2025-26 before suffering a season-ending hand injury in March.

The Sacramento Kings are preparing for a crucial 2026 NBA Draft, which is set to take place from Tuesday, June 23rd, through Wednesday, June 24th.
Sacramento owns the 7th pick in the Draft, giving them a chance at selecting a talented player with upside, such as Arkansas guard Darius Acuff Jr., Louisville guard Mikel Brown Jr., Houston’s Kingston Flemings, and Illinois guard Keaton Wagler, among others.

Gotta find a way to get below the luxury, then could use the NTMLE for Precious. I'm fine with Russ coming back too, but think he should be an 11th man type player. No point in him getting 28 mins per night, at this stage of his career, and the stage the Kings are at in rebuilding. Might be ok if he's the backup PG, when there's injuries but that's all.
Was kind of confused/disappointed in the Doug/Drew signings last year but doubt they'll be back. They need those last two spots for the 2nd rounders coming in this year.
