Breaking: De’Aaron Fox traded to Chicago for Zach LaVine, picks

According to reports, the Sacramento Kings have trade De'Aaron Fox, acquiring Zach LaVine in a three team deal.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Sacramento Kings have traded De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs, acquiring Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls in a three-team deal.

Rumors had been swirling around Fox’s future in Sacramento for weeks, with the Spurs known to be his preferred destination.

The Kings are also acquiring three first-round picks in the deal: 2025 Charlotte, 2027 San Antonio, and a 2031 from the Timberwolves.

Highers ups within the Kings organization have been known to have an affinity for LaVine for years now, dating back to the four-year, $80-million offer sheet they extended to him in 2018.

The Atheltic’s Sam Amick stated that Huerter, Zach Collins, and Tre Jones will go to Chicago in the deal, while Jordan McLaughlin will join Fox in San Antonio.

The new Sacramento guard is averaging 24.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists on 51.1/44.6/79.7 shooting splits.

Currently sitting at 10th in the Western Conference (24-24), it doesn’t solve their roster balancing issues as they add another guard. Still, the future draft capital acquired could allow Monte McNair, Wes Wilcox, and the rest of Sacramento’s front office to continue to make moves before the Feb. 6th trade deadline.
