Doug Christie discusses Sacramento’s outlook with The Drive Guys

Sacramento Kings interim head coach Doug Christie joined The Drive Guys on Thursday to discuss his team’s outlook for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season, what he learned from Rick Adelman, and more.

Given the nature of the roster turnover at the trade deadline, along with Christie taking over the head coaching responsibilities mid-season, it’s been an adjustment for everyone on the Kings.

When asked how he’s handling the situation, he took an approach that centers around his team rather than any given opposition.

“Just continue to fight and work on us,” Doug Christie said. “This isn’t really about our opponent right now.”

Of course, having played for the great Rick Adelman, the guys discussed what Christie learned from his former head coach and takes into his current position.

The new target number has been established at fifty three-point attempts, which Christie said is more about encouraging his guys to get up more triples than the specific number. He also explained how he recently came to that conclusion.

“There’s a number for each player that I would like for them to get to,” he said. “I want them to play for each other… You get to a number like that by being selfless. You get to a number like that by having 30 assists.”
