New Kings forward Kessler Edwards says he’s glad to be in Sacramento

Recently acquired Sacramento Kings forward Kessler Edwards spoke to the media on Thursday for the first time since being traded by the Brooklyn Nets during the NBA trade deadline.

The 22-year-old is averaging 1.1 points and 1.0 rebounds per game over just 14 appearances this season.

Edwards, a second-year forward out of Pepperdine, has a 6’11 wingspan and holds career averages of 13.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game on 39 percent shooting from the field over 17 appearances in the NBA G-League.

The Sacramento Kings entered the 2022-23 season hoping to break a 16-year playoff drought. After hiring Mike Brown as the team’s new coach, the Kings drafted Keegan Murray as the number four overall pick. They continued to make moves over the summer, trading for Kevin Huerter and signing multiple free agents, including guard Malik Monk.

While silent at the NBA trade deadline, the team sits at third in the Western Conference heading into the All-Star game.
