The Sacramento Kings have reunited with a familiar face as they have signed guard PJ Dozier to a contract for the remainder of the season, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

To make room for Dozier, the Kings have waived forward KZ Okpala, who will undergo season-ending knee surgery. Okpala had not appeared in a game for Sacramento since January 28th.

Okpala averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game on 42 percent shooting from the field over 35 appearances with the Kings this season.

Dozier returns to Sacramento after previously spending time with the organization while on two 10-day contracts from January 9-29th.

The 26-year-old has been on a tear with the G-League’s Iowa Wolves since the Kings cut ties with the guard, averaging 20.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.4 steals on 37 percent shooting from three-point range over 11 appearances.

The veteran has logged five NBA seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, and Kings, with his best season coming during 2020-21 when he averaged 7.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from the field and 31 percent from deep.
